Landscape and Panoramas

Landscape - Landscape art is one of the oldest art forms, dating back to the early Greeks and Romans. Italian and Dutch artists became extraordinarily talented at landscape painting, originating many styles and effects still used today. English and American landscape artists followed, developing their own insights, manners, techniques and methods. Tom Gamache is a classic-modernist exhibiting a clear and concise knowledge of the past's success coupled with a unique understanding of modern techniques, effects, approaches and subject matter. Tom exuberantly celebrates beauty and the landscape. He works on a grand scale, but also delights in richly-textured details that demonstrate his experiences through the lexicon of composition - light, color, shape, balance and emphasis.

His heritage is the celebrated group of landscape painters and photographers who, in their work over the last 150 years, illustrate the astonishing beauty of the American West. In the tradition of these dedicated artists, the images he shares hold influence over our perceptions and heighten our experiences.

Panorama - Large scale panoramas offer a range of visual opportunities for the artist and viewer.  The ultra wide panorama landscape format mimics the actual experience of sweeping scenes.  The eye’s natural tendency to scan the horizon coupled with the opportunity to study individual details within the scene makes for a rich and varied visual environment.  The conventionally formatted rectangular scene generally directs the eye to a few key points of interest.  The wider, panoramic format invites the viewer to explore the many details and points of interest within a scene.  Variety and chance substitute for detailed composition as the viewer is invited to make their own discoveries within the natural panoramic landscape.

Very large visuals have enthralled mankind for thousand of years prior to the invention of photography.  From the indoor wall paintings of Roman villas to the huge oil painted western landscapes of Edwin Church and Albert Bierstadt panoramas have been best appreciated in “larger than life” one-piece mural scale art.  How large is your space?

Architecture - Architectural photography requires a special insight into the building, the owner, the site and the intentions of the image publisher.  Tom works with the architect, the building owner and the publisher to ensure that each architectural photographic image conveys the desired impression. Commissions are accepted for interior and exterior large format architectural views of business, corporate, residential and civic properties.
